Expedition to Ojos del Salado, 6893 m
🌋Volcano Оjos Del Salado, 6893 m. The highest volcano in the world (dormant volcano), the second highest mountain in South America.
🔝We have already done the 6th expedition @extreme_guide to the volcano. This is my 4th time on this mountain. And this time again successfully.

Ojos attracts hundreds, maybe even thousands of climbers every year. The mountain and the expedition are interesting for their dynamic program: you have the opportunity to visit several volcanoes during acclimatization, enjoy the stunning landscapes of the high-mountain Atacama Desert, see lakes and salt marshes where colonies of pink flamingos live, as well as guanacos and vicuñas (wild llamas). The landscapes and color of the mountains are incredible here.
🔸️There is an opportunity to drive off-road in 4×4. Transitions and ascents are as short as possible thanks to the car. The car is a member of the team, without which there is nowhere to go here. Our 4×4 car, which we affectionately called “Felix” – Toyota Hilux 2017😀

🔸️The highlight of the program is the thermal baths, where you can relax after an intensive acclimatization day or ascent. On a warm and windless day in the camp on Lake Verde (4300 m), there is a feeling that you are somewhere at sea. And of course, at the end of the trip there will be time for the Pacific, warm ocean.

😶In the four years I was away from Ojos, a lot has changed: there are more permanent camps, toilets, and there is definitely not enough space on the main lawn near the thermal baths on Lake Verda. On the positive side, there is Internet and a canteen where you can order dishes from a Peruvian chef 👌.

💪There was a rare combination of three Olegs and Yura in our team :). The locals had a brain explosion when we said hello😀.

The program was completed to the maximum:
✅️climbed three volcanoes (4800, 6000, 6893 m),
✅️visited two lakes and one ocean,
✅️ate 60 kg of food,
✅️drank 200 liters of water,
✅️burned 160 liters of diesel.
Any flamingos or guanacos wasn’t harmed. 😀
Unfortunately, during the acclimatization process, one of the Olegs fell ill and had to be urgently evacuated to Copiapo (to sea level). So, three of us went to climb. On the day of the climb, we were alone on the mountain. The panoramas at dawn are as always incredible, the scale of the mountains is amazing.

Ojos is another mountain in the collection that you must definitely visit!

Put ➕️, who is interested in joining the expedition next year?
