Tours to India — Hiking to Ancient Places
Exoticism that tickles your nerves, thousand-year-old secrets, wild beauty of the jungle… Which country comes to mind first? For us, it’s India, and we suggest exploring it as part of an extreme tour. Let’s go on an exciting hike, visit the most ancient places of the East, and touch the majestic history.
Yes, this is a trip for curious people. This is an adventure where the final destination is not important, but every point of the route. During the transitions, literally every hour of trekking is filled with picturesque views, archaeological finds, acquaintance with flora and fauna. One vivid impression is replaced by another – you are charged with emotions for months to come.
Extreme tours in India cannot be called easy, and they are usually designed for at least a couple of weeks. But this has its charm. Each route is a challenge to yourself, and an achievement that you can and should be proud of. Such a trip is not only pleasant to remember: you tell your friends about it with excitement, you want to repeat it. But there will be no second exactly the same trip, because there are many mysterious paths in the jungle, and trekking is new, fresh, exciting every time.
Sights and secrets of the routes
It is always very difficult to talk about a tour program to India, especially an original and extreme one, because there are so many interesting places along the way that it is difficult to even list them, let alone describe them in detail. Therefore, we will focus on the most significant points of the route – these are:
- Delhi is the cradle of civilization with roots dating back to BC and at the same time a metropolis of the 21st century. You will see the Lotus Temple and the Red Fort, the Iron Pillar and Humayun’s Tomb – all at the very beginning of the tour – and get to know all the peoples inhabiting India, immediately feeling the diversity of its culture.
- Zeng Dogparlee Prodong is a Buddhist monastery containing manuscripts written by the Dalai Lama himself.
- Kanchenjunga is a national park where bamboo forests coexist with centuries-old oaks, with a view of the eight-thousander mountain of the same name; an introduction to herds of yaks is included!
- The Dzongri ridge is the peak of the tour, allowing you to see the beauty of mysterious India from a height of 3650 m.
- Prek Valley – a hike through the thickets of rhododendron will be remembered for a long time; and the real highlight of the day will be an overnight stay at the sacred Samiti Lake.
- Goche La Pass – its assault will be another milestone of the journey and will allow you to reach the village of Tsoku and get acquainted with the Tongba and Thukpa.
And a few dozen more finds, monuments, interesting things. The tour program in India is literally made up of pleasant surprises. Yes, each of the adventurers will encounter on their way something that will surprise and amaze them. For some, it will be the view from the Kabru ridge, for others – the difficulties of conquering the Ratong glacier, for others – the taste of local beer brewed from millet. What can I say, if you can wander around Delhi alone in admiration for 3-4 days (this is provided for in the program), and there will still be unvisited attractions for a hundred trips.
Travel Features: Necessary Skills and Equipment
Please note that the tour program is considered relatively difficult, because in India there is trekking through the jungle. Therefore, travelers should have good physical fitness to withstand long walks, and, preferably, experience in moving across rough terrain. Basic skills in rock climbing, rafting, and orienteering are only welcome (although they are not mandatory).
To ensure safety and comfort during the tour, you should take with you to India.
- a backpack with a capacity of up to 90 liters, a mat and a sleeping bag;
- several pairs of shoes – spare sneakers, trekking boots, flip-flops;
- a set of walking clothes;
- gaiters for boots;
- thermal underwear and 2-3 pairs of thick socks;
- a set of warm clothes (jacket, hat, gloves);
- a hat for sun protection, glasses.
As well as camping utensils, a flashlight with batteries, and a personal first aid kit. If you need any additional equipment, ExtremeGuide instructors will definitely inform you about it, and in advance, so that you can prepare for the trip thoroughly and without haste.
