Recommendations regarding clothing and equipment
By following the principle of layered clothing, you can not only provide warmth to your body, but also regulate its temperature based on the weather conditions or how you feel. Neither freezing nor overheating should be allowed.
The quality of the equipment is as important as its availability. The cost of good equipment is certainly higher than that of consumer goods, but the price of neglecting quality is too high: low-quality equipment is usually heavier and fails at the most inopportune moment, putting lives at unnecessary risk.
Preparation also includes the ability to withstand extreme temperature changes. Not only does the difficulty of climbing to Lenin Peak increase due to the fact that with every thousand meters it gets colder by 6 degrees, but also the temperature here during the day and at night is very different. And a strong wind can seriously increase the feeling of cold.
Also, every thousand meters upward is an increase in UV radiation of up to 12%. This means that a hat, sunglasses and sunscreen with a high SPF level are essential attributes for a high-altitude climber.
