Climbing Mount Ararat is an exciting adventure for height seekers
The name “Ararat” was given to the massif and its mountains by Europeans. The volcano was formed in the prehistoric era, has two cone-shaped peaks with a common base – Masis and Sis. The local population calls it Agri-Dag (Agri Dagi) and believes in the legend: it was to the sacred mountain after the Great Flood that the ark moored, from these territories the settlement of the Earth, the revival of life, resumed. Many travelers dream of seeing this spiritual place. There is also a legend that in the Middle Ages, unusual animals resembling dragons lived in the crevices.
The mountain was inaccessible for a long time, until the 19th century. The main factors that prevented people from climbing it were the aura of mysticism, holiness, and frequent avalanches. Nowadays, anyone can climb to Ararat, even without mountaineering skills, you only need to be in good physical condition. It is especially beautiful there during the flowering period of mountain meadows, which occurs from late spring to late June.
