Duration:

Height:

5054 m

This program is a mix of Svan hospitality, an overview of the most notable places of mountain culture and, of course, mountain trekking in Georgia in the vicinity of the famous Caucasian beauties of the peaks: Ushba, Tetnuld, Gestola and Shkhara. The highlight of the program is the ascent to the highest peak of Georgia – the legendary Kazbek and another beautiful peak – the pyramidal Tetnuld mountain.

Climbing Kazbek from the south is more comfortable, less difficult than from the north, and does not require permits – border passes. Participants are required to be in excellent health and good physical fitness. You will gain the necessary skills for a successful climb during the acclimatization process.

Tetnuld (4869 m) (Georgian: “white mountain”) is a peak in the spur of the Bezengi Wall, the Main Caucasus Range in the Upper Svaneti region of Georgia, 2 km south of the Gestola summit and the border of the Russian Federation (Kabardino-Balkaria). This mountain is also called the “bride”. The very existence of this peak confirms the fact that nature is capable of creating correct geometric shapes. From any side you look at Tetnuld, from all sides the summit is almost a regular pyramid with four sharp edges. From the Georgian side (Svaneti), there are two beautiful routes to Tetnuld.

Our route is the safest and easiest, the ascent goes along the south-western ridge along the route 2A-2B category. The climbing Kazbek is technically more difficult than the ascent to Elbrus, Laila, but less risky than the program to Ushba or Shkhara. The program is an intermediate step between simple peaks and technically difficult ones. The location of Tetnuld gives a unique chance to enjoy all the power and magnificence of the famous peaks of the Bezengi Wall, opposite which the Tetnuld peak is located.

Add Georgian national flavor to the vibrant nature of the mountains and the vibrant old Tbilisi, where you will have the opportunity to relax at the end of the program.

Notes:
β€” The tour program is not final and may be adjusted depending on weather conditions, the condition of the participants and other circumstances.
β€” Climbing Mount Tetnuld is a very serious undertaking, and for people with minimal mountaineering training it is only possible with an experienced guide. The optimal and safe option for passing the narrow ridge of Mount Tetnuld is a group of 3 people (a guide and two clients). Climbing in a large group and in a group of more than 3 people is potentially dangerous to your health and life.

One third of the ascent is passing the icefall and the closed Nageb glacier, the so-called exit to the pillow. From the pillow, movement along the closed glacier, bypassing cracks and then exit to the Tetnuldi ridge (in some places the ridge is 30-50 cm wide).
Before exiting to the ridge, there is often a large crack – bergschrund. From the base camp on the pass to this place is about 2.5 – 3 hours.
We continue moving along a narrow ridge, steepness 20 Β° – 30 Β°, in some places small rock outcrops. Narrow places on the ridge are passed simultaneously or with alternating belay (ridge or below the ridge). In the upper part, the ridge becomes wider and a little steeper. The average ascent time from the camp on the Nageb Pass is 4-6 hours, the descent takes 2-3 hours.
