We invite you to our mountaineering school in the High Tatras, Slovakia. The school is designed for a wide range of participants who have experience of summer and winter mountain hikes, or have already attended our school in the Carpathians. We have 5 intensive days ahead of us, where we will learn to work on the terrain and get acquainted with the basic belay techniques. Depending on the experience of the participants, groups will be formed, which after the training process will be able to plan ascents to Kežmarský štít.

During the school we will cover the following topics:
- technique of moving on rocks, snow and ice;
- organizing insurance on rocks and ice;
- movement along the route in ties;
- descent by rappelling;
- organization of belay points on rocky and ice terrain;
- organization of insurance on snow and self-arrest on snow relief.

Group gathering in Poprad until 11:00. Transfer to Tatranska Lomnica will take about one hour. You can also drive to Lomnica on your own. Check in to the hostel. Briefing and introduction of the participants. After a lunch break, we begin the training. Introduction to the equipment and the basics of working with a rope.

Today we are filming the rocks in Tatranska Kotlina all day long. We have a lot of information to consolidate in practice:
• rock climbing technique;
• organization of insurance on the rocks;
• movement along the route in connections;
• rappelling;
• organization of belay points on rocky terrain.
In the afternoon we go on a short training route to practice the acquired skills.

Snow and ice training in the Great Cold Valley on the slopes of Slavkov Peak.
We will work on the following:
• snow movement techniques and belay;
• self-delay when falling on snowy slopes.
If the waterfalls freeze, then training on ice climbing at the Vyverkach waterfall is added.
Depending on the weather conditions and the condition of the slopes, the location of the snow and ice lessons may change.

In the morning we take the cable car to the Skalnate pleso station, from there it’s an hour’s walk to the start of the route. The route’s difficulty is 2A (PD-). A good route for practicing your snow skills. Climbing a steep snow couloir, reaching the ridge, moving to the top along the rocky ridge.

Since the school takes place in the mountains, you must be mentally and physically prepared for low temperatures and sudden changes in weather. In addition, you must be physically prepared for intense outdoor training and mountain climbing.

Accommodation in a hostel in the village of Tatranska Lomnica. There is a hot shower, toilet, kitchen, washing machine and internet. The rooms are heated.

You can also take snacks and bars with you.
The program is potentially dangerous to your health and life. Since you will be in the winter mountains, there are risks of frostbite and hypothermia due to sudden changes in weather. In addition, you work at height. You must follow the recommendations and instructions of the guide throughout the program. If a participant does not follow the instructions of the guide and violates discipline, the guide may terminate the participation of such participants without compensation.
There is mobile communication in the mountains. The hostel also has wifi.
