Manaslu means “Mountain of the Soul”, derived from the Sanskrit word Manasa, meaning “intellect” or “soul”. Manaslu was first climbed on May 9, 1956.
The Manaslu region was opened to visitors relatively recently – on December 28, 1998, but previously these places were completely “closed”, and even today you will not find as many tourists here as on other tourist routes. It is worth noting that you can only go trekking around Manaslu as part of an organized group with a licensed guide.
Trekking around Manaslu will allow you to touch the life of ordinary Gurkhas. Many villages and monasteries stand along the trail. Life here goes on as it did many years ago, farmers cultivate the fields, drovers drive caravans of yaks with goods from Tibet.
Note from the program guide Ivanchenko Oleg: this trek is conducted by our team for the first time, and for me it will be the same adventure as for you, but we will do everything possible to ensure that the event is held at the highest level. An experienced Nepalese guide will work with us, who lives directly in the Manaslu region and has been on this trek more than 10 times.

day
At 6.30 am, early departure from Kathmandu to the start of the trek, the journey will take about 7 hours, along the way the bus will stop for a snack. Part of the way we will travel along the main national road that connects the capital and the city of Pokhara. The highway goes along the Trisuli River.
According to legend, the god Shiva pierced the earth with his trident and created three springs to quench his thirst. From these sources, according to legend, Trisuli appeared. By evening we will arrive in Sati Khola. The journey will take about 9 hours.
day
The places we will pass on this day are famous for their honey. On the way we will pass through the village of Lupobesi, to the river MachaKhola, where the village of the same name is located, there is a hot spring nearby.
The transition will take about 7 hours.
day
Today we will pass through several more villages, Tatopani, which means Tato – hot, pani – water. Now it becomes clear that there are hot springs in this village. The road goes through the forest and the climbs are increasingly common on our way, today we will gain about 500 meters. Then another village, Doban and finally we come to Jagat. Here is the border of the Manaslu National Park.
Jagat is a fairly large settlement and there is a place to walk here. The transition will take about 6 hours.
day
Today we will cross the Budhi Gandaka River twice, along which our route runs. We will visit the village of Pilim. In the vicinity of the trail live the Gurungs, a mountain people inhabiting Nepal. They are engaged in agriculture, cattle breeding, and have developed crafts. They are very good-natured people. However, they know how to stand up for themselves, it is not for nothing that special military units are formed from local recruits in Great Britain and India (Gurkha battalions).
Beyond the village of Pilim we will pass through a narrow gorge and end up in Deng, where we will spend the night. The crossing will take about 7 hours.
day
It’s a short day, we walk to the village of Gap. The landscape has noticeably changed, coniferous trees have appeared, it has become not as hot as at the beginning of our trek. In these places, a strong influence of Tibetan culture is noticeable, in the vicinity of the village of Gap there are several Buddhist monasteries that are still active today. The crossing will take about 4 hours.
day
Soon after leaving Gap village, we will climb through the forest and cross the Budhi Gandaki River again. In the village of Namrung you can stop, take a breath and have a cup of masala tea. The vegetation becomes increasingly sparse and the climate increasingly harsh.
In Lo village we can see Manaslu in all its glory. The Buddhist monastery located here is also interesting; it stands on a cliff, towering above the village. The crrossing will take about 7 hours.
day
Today we follow the old trade route from Tibet to Nepal. The road gradually rises to Samdo, along the way we can see the foundations of houses of abandoned settlements that fell into disrepair while the Tibetan border was closed. Near Samdo there is a viewpoint with a beautiful view of the surrounding area. The crossing takes about 4 hours.

day
After we leave the village, we cross the river and part with the old caravan trail that goes across the border into Tibet. And we start to climb higher, towards the pass. The terrain becomes very harsh, here we will see no trees, only grass and yaks grazing in the fields. Dharamsala, the last settlement on this side of the pass.
day
On this day we have to cross the Larki Pass, the highest point of our route at 5100 meters.
The main difficulty is the altitude of this trail. As we climb, panoramas of Larki Himal, Kampung Himal, and Kichke Himal will unfold before us. The pass may be snow-covered, but you won’t get lost; the road is marked with stone tours. After the pass, we will descend to 4,450 meters and find ourselves in the village of Tabuche. The crossing takes 8 hours.
day
After the previous days, this one will seem like an easy walk to us, the road passes through rhododendron forests, and the air becomes warmer. The surrounding landscapes delight the eye with their colors.
Ahead of us is Tiliche, a fairly large settlement famous for the apples that its residents grow. The crossing will take about 8 hours.
day
This is the last day of trekking, it is already warm, and along the trail there are thickets of bamboo, banana palms. Part of the way we will go along the famous Marsyandi River. It is quite crowded here, as this part of our route coincides with the trekking around Annapurna. The transition will take about 6 hours.
day
The trek is complete, ahead of us is the road to Kathmandu, it will take about 7-9 hours, along the way there will be a stop for a snack.
In the evening we will be in the capital of Nepal, where we will stay in a 3* hotel and, of course, have a gala dinner in honor of the completion of the trek.
day
Today is a free day, which can be devoted to buying souvenirs and just relaxing. In the evening, a flight home.

The meeting time of the group at Kathmandu airport will be specified once we know your exact arrival time.
An important feature of trekking in Nepal is that you have the opportunity to give most of the cargo needed on the trek to a porter and thus make both you and the Nepalese happy, whom you will help earn $ 15-20, although you can refuse this service. The average weight of a porter’s backpack is 25 kg. And we will live and eat in lodges.
In Kathmandu we live in a comfortable hotel ***, where we can leave city and unnecessary things for storage. Therefore, we take the most necessary things on the trek: walking clothes. It is necessary to take into account that at the bottom the first 2-3 days will be very warm and the usual outfit – shorts, a T-shirt and a Panama hat, a scarf on the neck. It is colder much there, so you need trekking pants, a windbreaker jacket. It is better to leave a hair dryer, a curling iron and a portable toaster at home.
As we will spend the night in the loggias, we need a sleeping bag for a comfort temperature of 0 … – 5 C. If you have a lighter sleeping bag, it is not a problem, since you can always ask for a warmer blanket and cover yourself with it from above. Also, for overnight stays and long evenings in the upper loggias, you must have thermal underwear, a set of fleece sweater and pants + a warm jacket or down sweater, a hat and glove, glasses (in general, everything on the list), for the shower, have separate flip-flops / slippers and a towel. A backpack for 25-35 liters, in which you will put a thermos or water, valuables, a jacket and warmth and other things needed during the day, and you will carry it yourself.
A loggia is a guest house where there is accommodation for 2-3 people in a room, a shower and toilet on the floor, and a dining room downstairs. The conditions are an order of magnitude worse than in a regular hotel, but still better than in a tent. For a comfortable overnight stay, we recommend taking a sleeping bag (since it can be quite cool at night and the blanket in the room does not warm you much). In the upper villages, there may also be no light or a stationary shower (you can only wash yourself from a bucket of hot water). The rooms in the huts are the simplest with two or three beds.
We will eat in the loggias, where you can order from the menu. The price of a plate of rice + salad is 7-8$. The average bill for food per day is 20-25$ – breakfast, lunch and dinner. Be prepared for a cuisine based on rice and rice noodles and oatmeal for breakfast. Bread is very expensive. Chocolate and cookies cost 3-4 USD. In addition, it is better to forget about meat dishes in the upper lodges for a while. You can take with you some products that you will not have on the trek: sausage, canned goods, chocolate, dried fruits, a portable burner and heat yourself tea with sandwiches at rest stops. But keep in mind that cooking your own food in the lodges is not allowed, the owners are against people eating outside their canteen (that’s how their business is built), they charge a small fee for housing, and build their main profit on the sale of food. In any case, it makes sense to take a burner and a small pot to boil tea for yourself in unlimited quantities.
Local children love sweets and willingly allow themselves to be photographed in exchange for candy or chocolate.
Meals in Kathmandu in a restaurant per day cost the same 25-30 USD; in colorful establishments for locals – 15-20 USD.
Please note that the total weight you can give to the porter is 10-12 kg per person. Your small backpack will weigh up to 5-7 kg.
The guides will have a first aid kit for emergency medicine, but it is necessary to have medicines for individual and chronic diseases, personal adhesive plaster, headache tablets, anti-cold and painkillers, and definitely + vitamin C and group B for better adaptation in the mountains.
Communication on the track 3G only in cities. In cities communication is everywhere. Above the Internet only paid 3 $ per device.
List of diseases. It is advisable to do a medical checkup before the tour.
Features of acclimatization in high mountains
Physical and mental preparation before climbing and hiking in the mountains
This route passes at altitudes of up to 4000 m, where solar radiation is several times stronger than on the plain, the mountain climate and thin air affect the body’s condition during the first days of the trek. In case of improper acclimatization and rapid altitude gain, you may develop mountain sickness.
Therefore, we have developed a special acclimatization program and control of the condition of each participant on the route. The track is not technically difficult and goes along a mountain road, but requires good physical preparation and compliance with safety rules in the mountains. All instructions of the guide on the route are mandatory!
The table shows the basic cost for a group and may change depending on the number of people in the group. For the calculation of the cost of the tour for a smaller number of people and individual groups, see the «Price» block for more details.
We guarantee that on the dates indicated in the table, even if there is a minimum number of people allowed in the group, the tour will take place 100% with a minimum change in cost.
